Hotel Reservations

A block of rooms has been set aside from Thursday, October 24 to Sunday, October 27 at the Delta Waterloo Hotel, located at 110 Erb Street West. Waterloo. ON, N2L 006.

The hotel offers a discounted rate of $149 per night, which is available if reservations are made before Tuesday, September 24. Details can be obtained, and reservations made, through this link

There are alternative hotels in both Waterloo and Kitchener. The Delta’s advantage is that it is closest to both the conference venue (across the street) and Uptown Waterloo, where bars and restaurants are located.

Travel Information

Getting to Waterloo

By air

The Waterloo airport has a few flights to Canadian locations, but the most convenient airport is the Pearson Airport in Toronto. The downtown Toronto Billy Bishop Airport is not as good a choice, because getting to Waterloo then entails crossing most of the downtown core. Pearson is located west of Toronto and is a 45-minute drive from Waterloo. Aifways Transit runs shuttles from Pearson to Waterloo. The fee for shared shuttle rides is 101$ each way. Waterloo Taxi has flat fees to get to and from the airport: 90$ to get to Pearson from Waterloo, and 115$ to get from Pearson to Waterloo. Taxi pickups from Pearson must be arranged in advance, as the car must leave Waterloo to go pick you up.

By train

The Via Rail station in Kitchener is a 5-minute drive from Uptown Waterloo. Taxis are available at the station around train arrival times. Most routes will entail a transfer in Toronto.

By car

If your route takes you through Toronto, consider taking the toll 407 highway to go around the city and avoid potential traffic jams (this is not cheap: it costs around 45$ for a one-way drive on the entirety of the highway).

Parking

Unfortunately, there is no parking available on the CIGI Campus (which contains the Balsilie School) during business hours on Friday October 25. On that day, parking at the Clay and Glass Museum (across the street) or the Delta Hotel can be arranged using Honk Mobile. However, the gates to the CIGI parking lot will be open on Saturday, October 26.
